M85 Manufacturing (formerly Spearcrafters) sponsors The USA Women's Spearfishing Team, who will be competing this September in the World Spearfishing Championships in Spain. Shawn McNary, owner of M85 Manufacturing saw the news video coverage of Julie Higgs and immediately knew he wanted to help. Shawn is a born and raised Floridian, based in the Tampa Bay area. He purchased the Spearcrafters brand in May 2022 and has quickly grown the business to include fully customized spear shafts for any/all Spearguns. His motto is “if you can draw it, send a picture or blueprint, then we can make it”. All shafts are CNC Machined from 17-4 Stainless Steel bar stock and hand straightened in house, followed up with in house heat treating to ensure the M85 brand maintains the same outstanding reputation for form, fit and function. Technology
State of the art machine shop, CNC Mills, lathes, drilling centers, straightening machines. Many of these we’ve custom built. We have also designed and built our own in house, digitally controlled Heat-Treat Oven exclusively for spearshafts. All our machines and materials are Made In The USA and all our machining is done “in-house” under strict quality control methods to ensure the finest spearshafts available.
Approaches
We have total control over the quality of our products. We use only the highest quality domestically purchased, certified, aircraft grade, condition A, 17-4 Stainless Steel that has been Center-less ground to ensure that our spearshafts are the absolute straightest, most rust resistant, and most consistent shafts available.
Service
Our Spear shafts are harder and more consistent than any other brand spearshafts. We stand 100% behind our products. Any Defects in quality or workmanship will be replaced upon return. We offer complimentary shaft straightening for shafts purchased from M85. We also offer Shaft refurbishment(See options page for more details on refurbishment)
